Summer Schools: Russia
Many organisations offer summer schools in Russia. But which of them are good and which of them aren't? LUCRES can wholeheartedly recommend two summer courses from our established partners, taking you to summerly Saint-Petersburg.

Netherlands Institute in Saint-Petersburg
The Netherlands Institute in Saint-Petersburg offers a two-week summer school in August. If you want to acquaint yourself with the Russian language and with Russian culture, this summer school could be exactly what you want.
After two weeks, you will know the basics of Russian. You will also be familiar with Russian history and culture, the country's customs and traditions. The courses cover topics as diverse as art, literature, architecture as well as Russian politics, economy and society.
Each morning will be spent on language acquisition and lectures. A broad variety of excursions will provide you with an opportunity to put classroom theory into practice!
EUSP Summer School
LUCRES students who want to expand their knowledge of Russian and Russia's history, culture and politics, can enroll in the Summer School offered by the European University at Saint-Petersburg, a LURCES partner.
The four-week programme in July combines the richness of cultural experience of Saint-Petersburg with professional training in Russian studies. The history of the Russian Empire, the Russian Revolution, and contemporary politics are intimately connected to the city's magnificent architecture and museums. White nights and vibrant metropolitan culture make up a valuable addition to the academic program.
The programme includes intensive Russian as well as classes by leading EUSP professors taught in English, plus site visits to historical suburbs and to Novgorod, the birthplace of the Russian medieval state. Special connections of EUSP with the Hermitage and the Russian Museum provide opportunities beyond the average tourist experience.
